Core Sound is pleased to offer M-Audio's MicroTrack II
Professional 2-Channel Mobile Digital Recorder!
Core Sound is pleased to offer M-Audio's MicroTrack II, a significant
improvement over the earlier MicroTrack 24/96 handheld 24-Bit, 96 KHz
two-channel digital audio recorder. In our opinion, the MicroTrack II
is the best of the crop of portable digital audio recorders.
MicroTrack II records to Compact Flash flash memory cards or
microdrives. It has two high quality microphone pre-amps, Line level
analog inputs, an S/PDIF coaxial (RCA) input, analog Line level (RCA)
and headphone (stereo miniplug) outputs, phantom power for microphones
and separate input level controls for each channel. It has a USB 2.0
interface, and a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.
It can record high-resolution, uncompressed WAV and BWF files in both
16- and 24-bit formats at sample rates from 32 to 96 KS/s. It can also
record MP3 files at 96 to 320 kbps. While recording it allows
monitoring via headphones and the Line outputs.
What's improved? MicroTrack II adds a limiter to its microphone
pre-amp, useful in eliminating distortion when an unexpectedly loud
sound occurs. It also is able to continue recording seamlessly to a new
file when the current file reaches the maximum size of 2 GB -- nothing
is lost as it starts recording to a new file. Its microphone pre-amp
now accommodates a wider range of loudness without overloading. You can
now monitor what's coming in on the S/PDIF input over headphones. And
its phantom power supply now offers a true 48 Volts.
Since MicroTrack II has an S/PDIF coaxial input, you can use our Mic2496 dual mic pre-amp/A-to-D converter as a
professional front end offering real 24-bit performance. The two of
them can easily be Velcroed together to make a compact recording
system.
External Battery Packs for MicroTrack II
Many folks have asked us about using an external battery pack to
extend the MicroTrack II's recording time. M-Audio recommends using
the new Energi-To-Go USB Battery pack from Energizer. Simply plug the
Energi-To-Go's mini-USB cable into the MicroTrack II and you'll be
able to record for many hours. The Energi-To-Go packs are small and fit
in the palm of your hand.
Two other compact and low-cost (under $20) battery packs are the Tekkeon
myPower GO and the JAVOBooster.
They use four AA batteries and power the MicroTrack for ten hours on a
single set of batteries.
Note: M-Audio regularly releases firmware
updates for the MicroTrack II. Visit M-Audio's Web site and look in the
Support section for the latest release.
